Aaron M. Downs, often known as "Mickey Downs", was born in Connecticut about 1840. He served with the
Connecticut Cavalry Regiment in the Civil War. Later he came to Brookville, living near the Red Mill.
He died May 19, 1900, following a fall from his bed and
complaining of pain in his left side. Captain E. R. Brady Post of the Grand Army of the Republic conducted a Soldiers Burial Service at the Brookville Cemetery
following the funeral.
