James Mackey was born in Ireland, March 10, 1844, the son of Robert and Jane (Lindsey) Mackey, and came to United States with his Grandfather and Grandmother Lindsey when he
was seven years old. He spent his life in the Brookville and Sigel areas, his occupation being in the lumbering industry in those communities.
He was married twice, first to Margaret Jane McAdoo of Eldred Township, on May 15, 1866, and later on September 28, 1877, he
married Mary Ann McGill, of Baxter, both in Jefferson County, PA.
Mr. Mackey served in the Civil War, in the 211th Regiment. He was a member of the E. R.
Brady Post, No. 242, G.A.R.
He was the father of 4 children, three of them survived their father, Mrs. Martha Alford, Luella
Mackey, and Edward Mackey.
Mr. Mackey died July 18, 1930, at his home in Brookville, and is buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery,
Eldred Township, Jefferson County, PA.
