Emanuel Weiser was the son of Jacob and Mary Weiser, and was born in Northumberland Co., PA, on April 27, 1843,
the fifth child of a family of twelve children. He came to Jefferson County in 1852, and located in Emerickville where he resided until his death. In 1854, he married Mary Ann
Emerick, the eldest daughter of John Emerick. Mary Ann was born in Montgomery County, PA, on September 23, 1833, and came to Jefferson County with her parents in
1847, her father establishing his farm on the land where she and Emanuel lived out their lives.
Emanuel and Mary Ann were the parents of eight children,
four sons and four daughters. The sons, John, Jacob, Adam and Jeramiah, all died in infancy, and are buried in the Lutheran Cemetery with their parents. The daughters were
Elizabeth Long, Sally Dinger, Lavina Baum and Mrs. Fletcher Haines.
Mary Ann Weiser died at Emerickville on April 20, 1898, of chronic bronchitis, and was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery at Emerickville, beside her children.
Emanuel married second to Mrs. Mary Berkhouse on April 20, 1900. He died April 20, 1908, and was buried beside his first wife.
