Charles Francis Frost was born in Philadelphia in 1847, and came to Jefferson County with his parents when
they migrated west. His father was James Frost, who brought his family to the Kirkman area, becoming one of the early settlers of that wilderness area. He
established one of the first farms with the assistance of his sons.
As a resident of Jefferson County, he met and married the daughter of a neighbor, Anna Kirkman, daughter of
Thomas and Mary Ann Kirkman. Anna was born in Pine Creek Township on March 26, 1852, in the area, which was named for her family. Charles and Anna were
married on December 26th in 1873, by Rev. B. F. Delo.
Their family grew to include five children, Martha May Bullers of Kirkman, Mary Ann Enterline of Kirkman, Edna
Blanche Canfield of Minneapolis, MN, William Edward Frost of Akron, OH, and Bonnie Jeanette Milliren, also of Kirkman.
Anna Frost died June 25, 1921, after an illness of over a year. She was buried in the Butler Cemetery near
their home. Her husband, Charles died in 1937 and was buried beside his wife.
