Samuel Newcome was born in 1759, in County Derry, Ireland, and died July 26, 1826, in Indiana County, PA. He was the
son of Elias Newcome, of Dartmouth, Devonshire, England. Samuel and his brother, Thomas, came to America at the time of the Revolution, and both of them enlisted in the Patriot Army. Thomas was later
killed by Indians. Samuel married Nancy Fritz, and made their home in Indiana County for many years. Their children were Mrs. Margaret Smith, George, Mrs. Nancy Depp, Mrs. Barbara Redding, Mrs. Elizabeth
Cain, Mrs. Susannah Ladits, and William. Samuel and Nancy Newcome are buried in the Findley Street Cemetery in Punxsutawney, PA.
