Amanda Matson was born in Brookville, Jefferson County, PA, on January 3, 1839, one of the daughters of Mr. and Mrs
. Samuel Truby. Other children of the Truby family were Mrs. Elisha Robinson, of Parker's landing in Armstrong County, PA, and Samuel C. Truby, of Brookville.
Amanda Truby was married to Dr. C. M. Matson on the 27th of October in 1864, and made their home on Pickering Street in Brookville. The Matsons were the parents of four
children: Walter W., who is also a doctor in Brookville; Claude W., who died at the age of twenty-nine years; Caroline R., wife of Fred L. Haines; and Alice, who died at the age of three years.
Mrs. Matson died October 4th, 1903, from complications from a fall at her home, and was buried in the Brookville Cemetery, at Brookville, PA.
