Robert Wilson Anderson was born in 1830 in Strattanville, Clarion County, PA, the only child of Abram Anderson and Ruth Lowry (daughter of Walter Lowry of Venango County). Ruth later married Amos Williams of Clarion County, then John
McCormick of Jefferson County. Robert (or Wils, as was called) followed the Lowry family tradition of carpentry, which appears as the occupation of all of his sons. He first married Margaret
Patterson, of Washington Township, Jefferson County. They were divorced in 1864, following his military service in the Civil War. There were no children to this
marriage. He enlisted again after the divorce and was injured in jumping over a wall during the charge on the forts "in front
of Petersburg, VA". After his discharge from his second term of military duty, he married Effie Araminta Vasbinder, daughter of Adam Vasbinder and Jane Dixon. Their family included 8
children, 4 daughters and 4 sons. He became increasingly debilitated from the war injury, and died in 1907. Effie was born in 1849, and died in 1925. Both are buried in Temple Cemetery
, Warsaw Township.
